There is no
right way
to grieve.

Grief is not a problem to be solved. It is a loss to be carried, and how you carry it matters. This is a space where your grief can take up as much room as it needs, without a timeline, without a checklist, and without being rushed toward okay.

Dr. Heather Taylor, PsyD, licensed grief therapist

Grief does not go away. It changes. And the work of therapy is not to make your grief smaller, it is to help you carry it in a way that lets you keep living.

who I work with

Grief looks different for everyone.
It belongs here all the same.

I specialize in grief therapy for adults navigating loss in all its forms. You do not have to be in crisis to deserve support. You just have to be carrying something heavy.

Grief therapy for death loss
Death Loss
Grief After Death
Whether the death was sudden or anticipated, recent or years ago, you may still be looking for a space where you can grieve without performing recovery. This is that space.
  • Death of a parent, partner, child, or sibling
  • Suicide loss and traumatic death
  • Pregnancy loss and infant loss
  • Complicated, prolonged, or delayed grief
  • Grief that has been minimized or dismissed
Therapy for non-death loss and life transitions
Non-Death Loss
The Grief Nobody Names
Not all grief follows a death. Divorce, estrangement, job loss, identity shifts, infertility, and the end of a relationship are real losses that deserve real grief support, even when the world does not offer condolences.
  • Divorce, separation, and relationship endings
  • Family estrangement and ambiguous loss
  • Career loss and identity transitions
  • Infertility and pregnancy loss
  • Grief tied to major life changes
Therapy for chronic illness and medical grief
Medical and Chronic Illness Grief
When Your Body Changes the Story
A diagnosis changes everything: the future you imagined, the body you knew, the identity you held. Medical grief is real grief, and it often goes unrecognized by the systems that are supposed to help you heal.
  • Chronic illness and ongoing health challenges
  • Grief following a life-altering diagnosis
  • Loss of function, mobility, or independence
  • Grief alongside a loved one’s illness
  • Neurodivergence and late diagnosis grief
Therapy for clinicians who are personally grieving
Clinicians Who Grieve
When the Helper Needs Help
Therapists, counselors, social workers, and other helping professionals grieve too. And doing grief work while personally grieving is its own complicated experience. You understand the language. You know what therapy is supposed to look like. This space is for when you need to be on the other side of it.
  • Mental health clinicians navigating personal loss
  • Grief from client deaths and therapeutic endings
  • Vicarious trauma and compassion fatigue
  • Professionals balancing personal and professional grief
  • Support for clinicians in their own healing
is this for you?

You might be ready for grief therapy if…

You do not need to be in crisis to reach out. Grief therapy is for anyone who is carrying a loss and wants support in how they carry it. Some signs that this might be the right time:

  • You feel like you should be over it by now, but you are not
  • Your grief is affecting your relationships, work, or daily life
  • You have lost someone and the world moved on before you did
  • You are grieving something nobody else seems to recognize as a real loss
  • You are a clinician who is grieving and needs a space that is just yours
  • Your body has changed and you are mourning the life you thought you would have
  • You want to grieve with intention rather than just get through it

my approach

Grief-informed. Trauma-aware. Entirely yours.

My approach to grief therapy is not about moving through stages or reaching acceptance. It is about building your capacity to stay with your grief, carry it, and keep living alongside it.

01
Grief-Informed Care
Everything I do is grounded in modern grief theory, which means we move well beyond the five stages. Grief is nonlinear, cumulative, and deeply personal. Therapy here looks like that.
02
Trauma-Informed Practice
Loss and trauma often travel together. I hold space for both, integrating EMDR when clinically appropriate for clients navigating traumatic grief, sudden loss, or trauma that is woven into their loss experience.
03
The STAY Framework
My clinical work is shaped by the STAY Framework, a four-part approach to grief that helps clients slow down, name what they are carrying, allow complexity, and yield to their grief rather than fight it.

common questions

Things people often wonder before reaching out

You do not have to have it all figured out before you contact me. But if you have questions, these might help.

No. Grief therapy is not only for people who are falling apart. It is for anyone carrying something heavy who wants support in how they carry it. You do not need to hit a breaking point to deserve care.

Grief does not have an expiration date. People come to therapy months, years, and even decades after a loss. If it is still affecting your life, it is still worth tending to.

I accept Aetna and First Choice Health. I also provide superbills for out-of-network reimbursement and work with Thrizer to help maximize out-of-network benefits. Reach out for current fee information.

That is exactly what the free 15-minute consultation is for. Low stakes, no pressure. If I am not the right fit, I will do my best to point you toward someone who is.
