The Mourning Movement
Who are we?
The Mourning Movement, co-founded by Dr. Heather Taylor, PsyD, psychologist and Jen Reisinger, LMHC, is a pioneering initiative dedicated to transforming the dialogue around grief and loss. With over 25 years of combined experience, Heather and Jen have made it their mission to support individuals, families, and communities in navigating the complexities of grief with compassion and understanding.
At the core of The Mourning Movement is the commitment to normalize grief as a fundamental part of the human experience. By challenging the prevailing “don’t-talk-about-it” narrative, this movement seeks to foster a more open and supportive environment where grief is acknowledged and addressed with empathy and respect.
What is our aim?
The Mourning Movement adopts a contemporary approach to grief support, emphasizing the concept of “grief states, not stages.” This model recognizes that grief is not a linear process but a dynamic and individual experience that varies from person to person. By educating about the spectrum of grief, the movement aims to validate the diverse ways in which people experience and cope with loss, whether it pertains to death or other significant life changes.
Understanding that everyone’s grief journey is unique, The Mourning Movement offers a variety of engagement opportunities tailored to meet individual needs at different times. From bite-sized downloads and short videos to in-depth webinars, in-person workshops, and intensive grief retreats, the movement provides a range of resources designed to support grievers wherever they are in their process.
Join the Movement
Through these offerings, The Mourning Movement not only educates but also builds a community of support, reducing the isolation that often accompanies grief. By providing these resources, Heather and Jen empower individuals to navigate their grief with knowledge, tools, and the support of a community that understands the multifaceted nature of loss.
The Mourning Movement is more than just a resource; it is a call to action to embrace grief as a natural, albeit painful, part of life, promoting healing through connection, education, and the sharing of our collective experiences.
